The Department of Exercise Science and Health at the University of Saint Francis facilitates learning by promoting lifelong physical fitness and fostering healthy behaviors in an environment permeated by Franciscan values. You will learn in various hands-on settings including fitness centers, community health centers, tennis courts and golf courses, as well as the classroom, where preventive medicine techniques are practiced and controversial health concepts are discussed.
The Health and Exercise Science program is designed to prepare you for careers in community health education, public health, fitness training and management, and other health-related fields. You can select a concentration in community health promotion, wellness and fitness, or exercise science to tailor your studies to your specific career goals. The Nutrition program will prepare you for a broad range of opportunities to practice health promotion, clinical nutrition, food service management, research and development in food nutrition, health and nutrition marketing, or community education.
The Department of Exercise Science and Health also supports the Department of Education in administering the Secondary Health and Physical Education program. This program provides you with opportunities to expand your knowledge of constantly changing health concepts. You will be encouraged to develop skills for lifelong personal fitness as you prepare for a career as a professional teacher who can meet the challenges of a changing society.
